Stephanie Rohlfs (b. 1984, San Jose, CA) is a San Francisco-based artist who makes mixed-media sculptures and drawings. Interested in the use and life of objects, her work has explored animal enrichment, product design, and functional objects. She is currently working on a body of sculptures that playfully engage with the culture of both doomsday preppers and the new age wellness community. This work is heavily rooted in ceramic objects, but also incorporates wood, fibers, tools, and other found objects.
Stephanie Rohlfs has shown her own work in Bay Area galleries such as Bass & Reiner, Royal Nonesuch, and Root Division as well as Hallwalls (Buffalo, NY) and the Buffalo Institute for Contemporary Art. She has participated in temporary exhibits at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco, CA) and Toast (Manchester, England). A former co-director of City Limits Gallery and co-founder of The Stipend (a Bay Area microgrant for exhibiting artists), she is also an occasional arts writer.
